You are bidding on the February 1939 issue of "Conferencia-Journal de l'Universite des Annales, a French journal published by Yvonne Sarcey Brisson (1869-1950) which had a 9 page lecture-recital on J.S. Bach given by Russian-American pianist, Alexander Borovsky (1889-1968). The lecture is printed in French with many musical examples. Borovsky's recital lecture commentaries in four monthly journals.On first pages at bottom is printed, "Like Mr. M. Alfred Cortot, M. Alexander Borovsky gives his lecture himself. Sitting in front of the piano he sits with his audience, gives a short example, speaks again, gets up, comes back to the piano, explains, comments, then when the atmosphere is created, gives the concert of all pieces. Genial interpreter of Bach, his success is triumphant.
Pages are lightly browned. There is also a lecture by French author, George Duhamel who was nominated 27 times for the Nobel Peace Prize in Literature.
Also included is a personal hand written 1937 letter to Borovsky from Yvonne Sarcey, founder of the monthly journal, Universite des Annales (1907-1950). Madame Sarcey was a woman of letters and philanthropist.
During World War 1 she founded shelters for children and was made a Commander of the Legion of Honour, 1934.
