    Description

    AMERICAN SHIP REVENGE 1 POUNDER CANNONBALL, VALCOUR ISLAND.LAKE CHAMPLAIN, N. Y. 1776
This rather rare American 1 pounder cannonball is from the American schooner Revenge* that fought at the battle of Valcour Island on Lake Champlain, New York on October 11, 1776.
It is about 1 7/8” in diameter & is in good condition with light to light/medium pitting & has a dark brown patina.
It was on display in a small private museum in Ticonderoga, New York for many years until it was bought by the famous New York collector James Dunn in 1937 who added it to his collection of over 1500 artifacts from that area.
It comes with a certificate of authenticity & a Dunn Collection letter.
See the 2 pounder cannonball also from the Revenge listed separately.
    * The Revenge was a single masted schooner armed with four 4 pounder & four 2 pounder & several 1 pounder swivelgun cannons.
