    Description

BRITISH 3 POUNDER CANNONBALL, TARLTON LEGION FORT, BATTLE OF YORKTOW, VA. 1781
This British unfired solid shot 3 pounder cannonball was found many years ago at the sight of the British Tarlton Legion’s fortification on the north shore of the York River at Yorktown, Virginia & dates to September/October, 1781
It is about 2 13/16" in diameter & in good condition with light/medium to medium pitting with a dark brown patina.                            NOTE - I use a generic picture as I have several & they all are in about the same condition. The one I send may not be the one in the picture but will be in as good or better condition
This cannonball was found many years ago before this area was National Park property & was bought by the famous James Anderson who had a very large collection of Virginia artifacts.
It was bought directly from the Anderson Collection & comes with a certificate of authenticity & an  Anderson Collection letter.
Artifacts from the Battle of Yorktown are quite rare & are seldom see at antique & militeria shows anymore!
See the matching British 6 pounder cannonball with the broad arrow stamp & the British 12 pounder cannonball from the Horn Battery on the south shore of the York River, all from the Siege/Battle  of Yorktown, Virginia in 1781 listed separately.
