    Description

    Offered in this 7-day auction is a c.1770-1810 Horn Snuff Box.  This "coffin" style snuff box is inlaid with a large, elongated diamond on top with an inset navigational compass. The compass has a paper interior, glass top, and brass body.  One of a kind to be sure!  Very good condition overall save for a 3/4" fissure in once side.  The snuff box has a nice, tight hinge.  If closed completely, it is difficult to open again (almost have to pry it open, just FYI).  However, my office has been very humid lately and this may have something to do with that? A great, scarce style box!
