    Description

An original paper wrapper that once enclosed a deed, probably docketed by ROBERT MORRIS [1734-1806], circa 1794, after the American Revolution when he was heavily engaged in the speculative purchase of western lands from military veterans, which eventually landed him in debtor's prison. He is known as the "Financier of the American Revolution", and was a signer pf the Declaration of Independence, but died bankrupt. Needs further research.....This wrapper came with a number of deeds bought by Morris, but the deed is missing from this one.....Size 8 1/2" x 13 1/2", folded to 3 1/2" x 8 1/2", watermarked rag paper, very good condition......Guaranteed original......
