A unique example with a distinctive basket hilt pattern, featuring large letter S to each side of the steel guard with a large Thistle flower  finial below, original leather and wire bound wooden grip showing expected age wear and small losses to leather. Mounted with an impressive and exceptionally battle-worthy Quill-back blade having raised false edge area with central ridge reinforcement to the very tip. Each side of the blade bearing a large etched Scottish insignia featuring a Thistle flower inside the oval surrounded by the lengthy Motto. Completely solid and intact overall on this exceptionally impressive and rare Scottish battle weapon.
